Freedom of expression is the right of every individual. While there is an awareness, it may seem I am trying to proselytize my readers. I share with you what aids me and hope it benefits you. While there is an awareness of false propaganda to influence political elections and social unrest, the seeds of distrust threaten individual, social, and emotional health. Given the recent divisive rhetoric from foreign and domestic, health economic challenges of stress, death, sickness, violence, injustice are prevalent in the news and social media.
Just as nutrients from food contribute to our physical health, we must nurture our mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual peace. Making healthy choices about what we take into our mental, enthusiastic soul can have healing or devastating consequences. Individual decisions can add to the overall health or death of the human spirit. Strong opinions without factual bases or evidence make rational thinking essential.
Change leaders do not single out individuals, fostering xenophobia, hostility when presented with a unique perspective.
You and I oversee the health and wellness of our minds, body, and soul. Information we absorb affects our thinking and feelings. Emotional and mental health often affect physical well-being.
Proverbs 14:30 says a tranquil mind gives life to the flesh, but envy makes the bones rot.
1Thessalonians 5:21 drives home the importance of investigation and evaluating the validity of what is presented as fact. Hold on to what is good.
Roman 12:18 speaks to the value of living peaceably.
I Corinthians 13:13 says, “Right now, three things remain faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love.”
Therefore, we owe ourselves and our fellow man to be careful which table we choose when feeding our soul. Why? Because the health of the mind, body, soul, and spirit contributes to how effectively we can keep our mind-body healthy and well.
Self-protection against the barrage of feelings of uncertainty, lack of peace, and hope are valuable, needed commodities. To ease a tranquil mind avoid eating at the table of emotional discourse and stressors, we cannot change. Control is ours of how deep the swimming pool we put ourselves in mental, emotional stress, and worry. If we are going to labor over anything, we should investigate if the message is fact or a mode to increase feelings of self-hatred, victimization without hope.
Daily eating from an array of meals of injustice, hate, and violence is not only self-destructive to our overall health but is useless. People all need to sense and experience value, acceptance, and belonging. It is not our best interest to embrace or dwell upon hostile, demeaning information that serves no beneficial purpose.
The continuous negativity verbiage of rhetoric challenges can feel like rotten food shoveled down our throats. It is disingenuous to say a person’s use of words, i.e., division and civility is a White Supremacist playbook reader.
Unfortunately, a scholar in the health industry is not aware of the need to show these words, especially in the health environment. The advocation perspectives of each other, which are destructive and subjective, is the advantage of labeling people of any race as unfavorable. I listened to a male on Twitter, and he made an interesting and factual statement. The personal experience creates a perception that becomes the truth for that person.
Exercise caution when an investment of your time and consider the source when an author shows a false sense of self-importance and disrespect for the people spoken of despairingly. Does the discord seem healthy for traumatized people of color? When a person uses a platform to spew promote division and rhetoric within the race. Proceed with caution. Should we make one feel confident about calling people Negro? Why would one want to resurrect a title that Senator Harry Reid in the 2008 election used in reference to Barack Obama generating calls for his resignation?
To add insult to injury Mystical Magical Negro (MMN), what has been the contribution by this writer to minimize trauma and triggers forced upon people who are not “light bright almost white” as she self-labeled herself?
The experience of the person with the hue of a Hershey bar often comes with a bulls-eye on their back by not of color and their race of people with a lighter complexion. The price to stand up and out singularly and speak truth to power may endanger themselves and their family.
Should a scholarly Epidemiologist specialize in research in public health numbers instead of human support and patient care be/speak spokesperson of authority for the view of all people of color.
The 1619 Project book cited accounts of betrayal by persons of their race. Caste by Isabel Wilkerson delivers a valid argument yielding light upon the fact that promotion of one group over another is economically and socially helpful, a more innocuous explanation of why some people experience privilege within the “White Supremacist” environment.
Extremist views, behaviors, the talk should raise questions, and they always do for me. Based on her opinion, all people of color speak in code when they are with each other — claiming the title of a self-proclaimed fighter of White Supremacy, declaring herself foremost white. Her Italian mother had deserted her when she was 12 or 14 years of age. She was too Black to her mother’s liking, which made her a burden. Describing her father originated from the west indies able to trace heritage to Africa. This individual also claimed she was of black Hebrew heritage. I may have missed it, but I never heard her claim herself as a person of color.
After describing the Magical Mystical Negro (MMN) “as religious, walking barefoot in the grass speaking of love. The mystical, magical negro is the definitive version through a white lens.” It sounded to me like what psychologists label as Transference.
The group leader seemed in awe of the author, shared, and agreed in general with her view as positive and creditable. The discussion digressed as participants used profane speech and spoke of killing or cutting out the tongue of the MMN.
Division, lack of civility, dehumanization of others, and a human being with a different view change the focus and work a course without effective outcome. The blame of the same and different races and complexions has resulted in violence and genocide.
People want to be able to care for themselves and their families. Living beings deserve love, respect, peace of mind, and spirit. Anyone who has experienced victimization, trauma, and hate knows the power of support and empathy.
Examine the source and motive of any person comfortable adding to the trauma, trigger of violence, and hate. History speaks of traitors amid any leader powerful enough to unite people, even if they are wrong. The potential of service of self is the only benefit when the vicious unwinding of a cord fewer than three strands is the goal.
Love never fails. Hate does not heal or win enduringly. Jesus Christ, Malcolm X, and Martin Luther King, civil rights workers, and voter registration people of color were murdered when they showed the power and ability to unify all races, social, economic people in numbers. We don’t have to reinvent the wheel. Just review how it turned in the past.
